India has a robust legal framework designed to protect children, but awareness and enforcement remain critical challenges. At Sayam Foundation, we work to bridge this gap by educating communities about existing laws and ensuring that children's rights are upheld through legal intervention.
The Constitution of India provides fundamental rights to all citizens, including children. Article 21A guarantees the right to education for children aged 6 to 14 years. The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act (RTE), 2009 ensures that every child has access to free and quality education in a neighborhood school. Our legal team works to ensure these provisions are implemented effectively at the grassroots level.
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 is one of the most comprehensive laws addressing sexual offenses against children. It provides for child-friendly procedures during trial, mandatory reporting of offenses, and special courts for speedy justice. Sayam Foundation assists families in navigating these complex legal processes, ensuring that victims receive the support they deserve.
Additionally, the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 provides for the care, protection, and rehabilitation of children in need. Our organization collaborates with Child Welfare Committees and Juvenile Justice Boards to ensure that children receive appropriate care and support within the legal system.
From Vulnerability to Safety
Every year, thousands of children in India fall victim to child labor, trafficking, and domestic abuse. Sayam Foundation works alongside law enforcement, government agencies, and other NGOs to identify at-risk children and ensure their safe rescue and rehabilitation.
Our rehabilitation process is comprehensive and child-centered. Once rescued, children receive medical care, psychological counseling, nutritional support, and educational enrollment. We work with foster families and child care institutions to provide stable, nurturing environments where children can heal and thrive.

Empowering Communities Through Knowledge
The first step in protecting child rights is awareness. Many families in rural and underserved areas are unaware of the laws that protect their children. Sayam Foundation conducts regular awareness campaigns in schools, villages, and urban slums to educate communities about child rights, available legal protections, and how to report abuse.
Our awareness programs cover a wide range of topics including child labor laws, POCSO Act provisions, RTE Act entitlements, prevention of child marriage, and digital safety for children. We use interactive workshops, street plays, poster campaigns, and digital content to reach diverse audiences.
We also train teachers, Anganwadi workers, and community leaders to identify signs of child abuse and take appropriate action. Our Child Protection Committees at the village and block level serve as the first line of defense for children's rights.
