Our Health Mission

Comprehensive Healthcare for Children in Need

Health and nutrition form the foundation of every child's ability to learn, grow, and thrive. At Sayam Foundation, we recognize that millions of children across India suffer from preventable illnesses, malnutrition, and lack of access to basic healthcare. Our health programs are designed to bridge this critical gap by delivering free medical checkups, deworming drives, vaccination support, and nutritional supplements to children in underserved communities.

Since our inception, we have organized over 300 health camps across 15 states, reaching more than 25,000 children with essential health services. Our team of volunteer doctors, nurses, and health workers collaborate with local communities to identify health issues early and provide timely interventions that save lives.

Health Checkup Programs

Regular health checkups are essential for early detection and prevention of diseases among children. Sayam Foundation partners with local hospitals, clinics, and volunteer medical professionals to conduct free health screening camps in rural and urban slum areas. These camps provide comprehensive health assessments including vision tests, dental examinations, BMI measurements, blood tests, and general physical examinations.

Our health camps are strategically organized during school hours to maximize student participation. We work closely with school administrators to ensure every enrolled child receives at least two health checkups per year. Children identified with health issues are referred to partner hospitals for further treatment, and Sayam Foundation covers the cost of essential medications and procedures.

In addition to general checkups, we run specialized deworming drives twice a year, which have shown a 40% improvement in children's nutritional absorption. Our vaccination awareness campaigns have helped increase immunization rates in target communities by over 60%.

Nutrition Programs for Growing Children

Children receiving nutritious meals at Sayam Foundation

Malnutrition remains one of the biggest challenges facing India's children. According to UNICEF, nearly 35% of children under five are stunted, and 20% are wasted. At Sayam Foundation, we tackle this crisis head-on with our daily nutritious meal program that serves balanced, protein-rich meals to children at partner schools and community centers.

Each meal is carefully planned by nutritionists to include essential vitamins, minerals, proteins, and carbohydrates necessary for healthy growth and cognitive development. Our menu features locally sourced ingredients including pulses, seasonal vegetables, milk, eggs, fruits, and fortified cereals. We ensure food safety and hygiene standards are maintained at every kitchen facility.

Our Mid-Day Meal Enhancement Program supplements government-run school meal schemes by adding milk, eggs, and fresh fruits on alternate days. This has resulted in a measurable improvement in children's health indicators, including a 25% reduction in anemia cases and a 30% improvement in BMI scores among participating children within the first year.

We also run take-home ration programs for families with children under six, providing monthly nutrition kits that include dal, rice, oil, jaggery, and fortified flour. This ensures that nutrition support extends beyond school hours and into the home environment.

Hygiene & Sanitation

Hygiene Awareness Programs

Good hygiene is the first line of defense against preventable diseases. Sayam Foundation conducts regular hygiene awareness workshops in schools and communities to educate children and parents about the importance of handwashing, clean drinking water, proper sanitation, and personal hygiene practices.

Our "Clean Hands, Healthy Lives" campaign has reached over 20,000 children across 150 schools, teaching them proper handwashing techniques with soap at critical times — before eating, after using the toilet, and after playing outdoors. We distribute soap bars, hand sanitizers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and menstrual hygiene kits to children and families in need.

We also work with local municipal bodies and panchayats to improve toilet and sanitation infrastructure in schools. Our school sanitation program has helped construct or upgrade 75 toilets in government schools, ensuring that children — especially girls — have access to clean and private sanitation facilities.

Our menstrual hygiene management program provides free sanitary napkins and conducts awareness sessions for adolescent girls, addressing the stigma around menstruation and ensuring girls do not miss school during their periods. This initiative has reduced absenteeism among adolescent girls by 35%.

  • 75 school toilets built or upgraded
